Benefits of Metal Pallets Compared To Plastic Pallets

by James Page

In the last few months, Ohio based company Compliance Packaging International Ltd. published a new website highlighting heavy duty 48 x 40 metal pallets that out perform plastic pallets in several key ways.

First, our metal pallets provide a better return on investment when compared to other metal pallets and plastic pallets because of their affordable cost and durable construction. Over time, the cost per trip of metal pallets is lower than plastic pallets that do not last as long.

Beyond cost savings, companies around the world enjoy the sanitary, sustainability and safety advantages of the metal pallets over plastic pallets.

Companies that have stringent hygienic requirements find the metal pallet is superior to plastic pallets because it can be cleaned and disinfected easier, and can be made more bacteria resistant.

While the metal pallet is not flammable and cannot be ignited in a fire, the plastic pallet creates a serious fire danger in warehouses especially when concentrated in large numbers.

Metal pallets are more durable than plastic pallets, do not break under heavy weight and remain sturdy when stacked with product on a warehouse floor. When a company replaces plastic pallets with metal pallets they often see workplace accidents decline with better performing metal pallets.

Unlike plastic pallets that are not repairable when cracked or broken, metal pallets are easily repairable for longer use.

Plastic pallets also afford less protection during shipping compared with metal pallets. Our metal pallets are rated to carry static loads of up to 40000 pounds and dynamic load up to 10000 pounds greatly exceeding the capacity of most plastic pallets on the world market place.

In open edge racking systems our 48 x 40 metal slave pallets hold up to 3500 pounds compared to the 2200 pounds or less that plastic pallets typically carry.

Corporations that are looking for the most environmental solution might be surprised to find that recycled metal recovers more energy and has a greater value than recycled plastic.
